Pet Odor & Pet Urine October 9th, 2008

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Cat Urine, Dog Urine, and I have even had Pig Urine jobs, are all very problematic. Pets are great and even I have succumbed into having dogs in my home and have learned how to deal with it.

Cat urine is the worst to deal with & I know that the removal of the odor completely is impossible regardless of whether you have gone through all the extreme measures to remedy the situations short of carpet & pad replacement. I have done everything possible to remedy cat urine problems in the past but I have never seen a miracle. I have seen such cases where the owner replaced carpets, pads, seal floors, seal walls with new paint & clean ventilation system. The smell was still obvious until the ventilation system was sealed with a phenolic sealer.

Dog urine problems have been better to deal with. With any urine problem it is all about what the pet eats & for those reason dog urine is not so traumatic as cats. As a carpet cleaner I am no longer a cat lover.

San Diego Carpet Cleaners deal with pet urine on a daily basis with almost every home we clean. Some even guarantee the removal of the odor & the urine. I used to do that but I have learned that it is impossible and that every situation is different because some home owners clean up the problem ASAP & some don’t. I never make it a point to own your problem but do my best to cure your problem.

Just cleaning the carpet will not remedy anything until the pad is addressed! The carpet pad is a sponge, it is where all those spills went to. The really large spills or urine deposits pass through the pad to the sub floor and spread out along the sub floor or absorb if it is a wood sub floor. Crystallized, gewey spills just hang out down there until temperature changes occur between the sub floor & the area above the carpet, moisture developes & a wicking process occurs. This is why the spots reappear after you clean it, this is why carpet cleaners get a bad name because the spill spots come back a few months later.

Miracle Services Carpet Cleaning & Floor Care takes a different plan of action on these areas by doing sub surface flush & rinse of spills & pet stains. We try to flush out the total spill by saturation, cleaning & true deodorization. Then we get those areas Flash Dried with our special carpet Rapid Speed Dry system.

We are Truck Mounted Carpet Steam Cleaning, there is no way that urine or odors can be removed by Carpet Dry Cleaning processes! It requires serious flush & rinse with powerful carpet cleaning extraction.

There are two types of carpet that are normally used for the residence and that is Nylon & Polyester. Nylon is the best & polyester is the inferior but nylon likes to stain. Urine if not neutralized will turn from an acidic state to an alkaline state and will start to burn the carpet fibers leaving you with a brown burn stain. Polyester is more forgiving in this regard!

We have certain chemicals to reduce these stains & hopefully remove them but sometimes may require an insert to remove the eye sore.

The total removal of odor will require the removal of all effected areas of the pad, cleaning & sealing of the sub floor. The carpet backing needs to be cleaned & then the carpet. Even after these extreme measures I have seen the odor still present but in a much lesser amount.

Our common sense approach is to remove the urine, saturate with special odorcides & deodorizers to reduce the problem for you. I then sell a follow-up treatment for you to continually apply to the areas the pet lies or happens to urinate. I will even recommend that you purchase an Austin Air cleaning machine from me: http://www.austinair.com/, these are great at removing odors from the home trust me.

We use some of the best pet odorcide in the industry and you will find that at only $12.00 per room it is a great deal. I always recommend that you buy a bottle of it from me to do your own follow ups. One 16 oz. of concentrate makes up to 32 gallons of odorcide.
